Within sight of active volcano Mt. Etna on the island of Sicily the Husaberg Factory Team was challenged by very technical and physically demanding round 3 of the 2011 EWC. The heat made it even harder for the riders on both days and like usual when the going gets tough, Joakim Ljunggren put in two excellent rides for podium finishes on both days. He was closely challenged by fellow Husaberg rider Marko Tarkkala who finished both days in 4th.
