Leinster Motor Club is celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2011. The club was set up in 1921 to organise competitions for both motorcycles and cars. To mark the occasion the club are running a motorsport festival on the 10th July at Belmont Demesne, Greystones in Co. Wicklow. The festival shall consist of a number of competition and displays. These include an Enduro Sprint, Motorcycle Trial, Sporting Car Trial, Veteran Vintage & Classic Car Rally, Paddock Bike Demo races as well as static displays of Classic & Modern racing cars & bikes. There will also be a display of Vintage and Classic tractors and machinery. The event is being run in association with the Wicklow Hospice Foundation who will receive all profits from the event.
The Enduro Sprint will take place around the grounds of the ruins of Belmont house, the course consists of mature beech woodlands with plenty of natural flowing terrain and large open field grass section. The Enduro Test will also take in parts of the Horse Trials Course built on the grounds, this includes a Ski Jump and Water Jump across a river, there will be Easy Option lines for competitors similar to the set up used at the Steeplecross last year at all difficult sections in the Test so the course will cater for riders of all levels. The route for the Test will take about Ten to Fifteen minutes to ride.
The gates will open for competitors at 3pm on Saturday 9th July and all are invited to walk the Test, the paddock shall remain open and competitors are free to camp on site overnight. Paddock gates shall be locked at 10pm and all generators etc to be turned off by 10.30pm. Sign on from 8am Sunday with the course opening for practise at 9am. Competitors will be free to have a number of runs through the Test prior to timed runs starting at 10pm. All competitors will get at least six timed tests. Entries will be limited to the first 120 fully paid received by the club. The event is open to Motocross and Enduro bikes, noise tests will be carried out, Motocross tyres may be used but must be part worn (18mm max tread height permitted).
As this is a charity event all competitors will be issued with a sponsorship card and any money raised on these goes directly to the Wicklow Hospice Foundation. Car parking for five hundred cars will be available so we are hoping for large turnout of spectators, entry and parking are free.
