Following the back to back GP of Turkey and Greece, the Enduro World Championship continued this weekend with the GP of Romania to mark the seventh round of the series. A tough course and testing weather made for a challenging weekend to all involved. The surprises weren’t missing either up to now, with illustrious accidents and mechanical trouble.. gifting the race with a little adrenalin.
Entering the weekend the TM RACING team were intent on improving their previous performances and by the end of the opening day they achieved exactly that. Saturday marked another strong improvement for Julien Gauthier ending the day in fifth in E1, while Aigar Leok, who still continues to adapt to his first season of the Enduro World Championship rode to an impressive 7th in E2.
After a steady start to Sunday, Gauthier continued to improve and build on each special test to claim a well earned fourth overall in E1 by the day’s end. On course for a season’s best result Leok consistently posted his TM at the sharp end of the results during the day, but it was not until the final special test that he made a mistake proving very costly. Losing a lot of time, the Estonian’s only error of the day was costly dropping him down the order to 13th in E2.
The Enduro World Championship continues with GP of Andorra on September 3rd and 4th. It will also mark the return of Luca Cherubini now fully recovered from his injury sustained in Portugal.
