McLoughlin, McGinn and Dunne all come out on top at round two of the Fastlane MCC Summer Series
It was a case of no rest for the wicked when no less than a few days are running round six of the Irish motocross championship, the Fastlane MCC were already back in Doon preparing for round two of the Summer Series championship with another sprint enduro. By not only reversing the course direction from the previous round but also lenghtning it stretched it out to almost 13 minutes for the top guys. Mixing part of the motocross track with both fresh and existing forest track all linked together by some high speed grasstrack sections ensured all riders would be tested to the limit over the course of the day.

#66 Jordan Scott was fast, very fast, winning all but one test, but in a game where every second counts, Scott’s non-finish during the fourth run proved too costly. This left the door firmly ajar for #2 Paul McLoughlin and through he came for the win. Consistently fast on very test be it wet or dry, left Paul not only with a surprise win but also a healthy winning margin with his fastest time coming in the final moments.

Young McGinn may well yet be one of the best finds of this series. Winning the opening round of the championship could easily be judged as a stroke of luck but McGinn was back again for round two and didn’t fail to disappoint. This time faced with a much more technical course, McGinn not only had to deal with the slippery early morning runs but also the challenge of early pace setter David McNulty. Gradually improving his pace with each run, McGinn steadily began to reduce McNullty’s early lead before putting him and his Yamaha out front with three tests still left to run. Continuning to improve also saw Michael set his best run on the final test becoming the only Senior rider to dip inside the 13 minute mark.

John Dunne completely stamped his authority suqrely all over the Clubman/Sportman. Each and every test came his way as Dunne blitzed his way to a massive ten-minute margin of victory. However behind him the battle tightened up as “Big Red’ David Farrell scrapped it out with Richard Murphy for the final podium spots. With little to seperate the duo the swapped positions test after tests until Farrell eventually got the better of Murphy to grab runner-up by just six-seconds after 1hr 45mins of special test racing.

Overnight rain left the grass slippery during the early runs through the test, catching out many riders. With the rain clouds staying at bay, the special test swiftly dried out and the times dropped as grip improved.
