Dubliner Stuart Edmonds will use this weekend’s Hawkstone International Motocross as the first competitive outing of his 2012 season. With some of Europe’s finest motocross riders set to compete on Sunday, the historic sandy Shropshire circuit will mark an important turning point in Edmond’s career having spent countless seasons on TM machinery. Now with a winter of testing behind him on Suzuki, Edmonds is keen to get started.

Tyco Suzuki by TAS Motocross team riders Stephen Sword and Stuart Edmonds will make their competitive outdoor debut this weekend at the Hawkstone International in the UK for their first competitive shakedown of the year. Following the announcement and launch of the new-look squad in December, the Northern Ireland-based team has been working hard over the winter months with both riders acclimatising well to their RM-Z Suzukis.

“Having spent so long on a different make of bike, I fully expected to take a while to acclimatise to the Suzuki, but I couldn’t have been more wrong,” remarked Stuart. “I clicked with the bike pretty much from the beginning, so I’m looking forward to getting out into the thick of it this weekend and seeing how we fair.”

Stephen Sword: “I’ve been lucky enough to have a practice bike over the winter and get out as much as I can. Obviously I competed in the Supercross last year too on a Suzuki, so I’m certainly feeling familiar with the bike now. Hawkstone will give us a great opportunity to fine-tune the bike and give us a gauge of where we are against the competition. We’re treating this like a test more than anything and if we get some decent results, that’s a bonus.”

“Hawkstone’s a tough place to ride, but it presents us with the best opportunity for a competitive debut,” confirmed team manager Adam Lyons. “We know we have some fine tuning to do, but on the whole we are confident of both riders’ abilities and by using this event as a further team test, we can hopefully go into the Championship season full of confidence and speed.”
