Team VMX has become a very familiar site around race tracks of Ireland, owned and managed by Graeme Vigors. Graeme, himself comes from a very successful motocross career and started up a motocross shop in Arklow Co Wicklow in 2008 and now has another one in Dublin. VMX is the KTM main dealer for southern Ireland and sponsors and helps out many riders all over Ireland. VMX stocks a vast range of spares and anything else the motocross enthusiast would need. The shop also carries a full stock for enduro, supermoto, KTM road, downhill, cross country and Bmx bicycles
The Dublin branch is run by Michal Mahon, one of the top mx1 riders in the country at the moment and also one of the two mx1 riders on the VMX team.
The other mx1 rider is Stephen Mullally. Stephen is a Curragh Co Kildare based transport company owner.
Northern based rider, Ed Allingham was initially riding on the team on the KTM 250F contesting the mx2 championship until a bad fall injured his knee, putting him out for the rest of the season.
Team VMX fielded the two lads on Sunday last in Dundalk in round 4 of the Retink Racing Adult Irish Championship on a very wet and muddy track.
The track was drying well after all the wet weather we had and produced some great racing.
MICHAEL MAHON premier mx1, KTM 450.
Michael set a blistering pace in qualifying netting himself 4th spot.
The 1st race saw Michael getting off the gate well but got caught behind a crash on the first corner so got passed by a lot of riders but got back passed them again only to get cross rutted and ended up in the trees, tried to make up ground behind Merton but ran out of time and ended up 5th.
In race 2 he was away 4th and passed Bird only to get passed back and then had a big spill over the table top by the trees (very fond of trees is our Mick) and ended up 5th again.
Race 3 Holeshot and lead the race for a few laps but Garrett and Bird got by on the faster outside lines and he held on for 3rd.
MICHAEL “Had a bad day but results didn’t really reflect it. Found myself on the ground a lot but will overcome that. I was delighted to lead the race for a few laps and really got a taste for it so WATCH THIS SPACE”
STEPHEN MULLALLY premier mx1 KTM 450.
Qualifying went well for Stephen considering track conditions and qualified 12th .
Race 1 Steve got away midpack and ploughed his way through the field to bag himself 6th.
Race 2 Similar start to race 1, worked hard but had a few silly falls as was the case with most of the riders and ended 7th.
Race 3 Got a good start but mid race crashed with fallen riders and had to start from the back again and got another 7th.
STEVE “ All in all I was very happy with my speed and fitness, just have to work a bit on my starts
Overall, very happy with team VMX and the bike and look forward to the future with them”
The lads would like to thank Graeme for his support and the support of all their sponsors.
