TMC’s John Meara storms round four of the Retink Irish Motocross Championship in Dundalk to claim the overall win in the Premier MX2, writes Noel O’Leary…
Dundalk motocross park hosted round 4 of Retink Racing adult Irish Championship on Sunday last.
Everybody expected it to be cancelled as it rained nearly all week in the run up to the event but a lot of hard work and track preparation was evident so for Enda and his band of workers it was full steam ahead.
Team TMC MOTX had the usual duo of John Meara in premier mx 2 and Christy Harnett mx1 competing for glory.
Qualifying went well for the lads with John qualifying 6th ( 1st mx2 bike) and Christy notching up 15th .
JOHN MEARA Premier mx2
Race 1. He had a fair start and coupled with a lot of hard work and some scary moments, he went on to win.
Race 2. John got a very good start and was leading the race for a few laps by up to 15 seconds but a lapse in concentration over the rhythm section saw him ejecting from the saddle via the handlebars. When he composed himself and tried to remount, he was very dazed but managed to get back up to 2nd place.
Race 3. Got a good start but he found it very hard to hold on because of an injured wrist as a result of the crash in race 2, and on lap 2 had a crash but wasn’t down for long and salvaged 2nd
JOHN “ I came away with a good lot of points and the overall win and I look forward to the next round”
CHRISTY HARNETT Premier mx1.
Race 1. Christy got a good start but had a big crash and hurt his shoulder and had to pull off the track.
Race 2 Got a great start and held his position and brought her home in 8th.
Race 3 He got a bad start and worked his way up to 9th.
CHRISTY “ I had a very tough day, results were mediocre but I have a bit of work to do but will come out fighting at the next race”
John hopes to be flying the flag for TMC MOTOX on Sunday next in Desertmartin in the Maxxis British Championship.
