Gonçalves and Barragan at free Honda Xtreme Academy training school
The Honda Xtreme Academy is pleased to announce its next training event with pro riders Rui Gonçalves and Jonathan Barragan at the Doon track on the 9th of July 2011 available to all under-23 Honda riders.
The training school, which will be run by Rev Racing’s Mark Reville, who has years of experience working with young riders, is primarily aimed at CRF 150R competitors across Ireland but is open to all young Honda riders.
Gonçalves is known as Portugal’s highest finishing rider in a World Championship, having finished runner-up in the MX2 series in 2009, and has won at Grand Prix level as well as numerous national titles. The Portuguese star is now in his second year with the factory Honda World Motocross squad, with which he’s had a number of podium finishes in the MX1 class, and brings his years of experience with a superb riding style to help train the Irish riders.
Spain’s best rider, Jonathan Barragan, who currently contests the CRF 450R for the LS Honda Racing squad, will join Gonçalves in this specialist training school. Barragan has won multiple national titles, and a number of Grand Prix races at MX1 level with a best result of fourth in the World.
The Honda Xtreme Academy training event forms part of the Southern championship in which CRF 150R riders receive recognition as a Honda rider, extra prizes with a separate championship points system, peer mentoring and much more. This initiative by Honda Europe has been rolled out across eight countries in Europe to help develop the next generation of riders aboard fourstroke machinery.
