Mahon moves closer to Championship Podium

It was Seaforde that hosted the penultimate round of the Retink Racing Adult Irish Championship on Saturday last. With the weather improving all the time and track conditions good, it was time for VMX’s Michael Mahon to pick up some valuable points.

Michael had a very good qualifying session, getting himself 2nd pick of the gate.

In the first race he got an ok start and made some great passes early on to find himself 3rd after the first lap behind Gary Gibson and Gordon Crockard , He got a good tow from Gordy for a few laps and the three of them pulled away from the rest of the field. With a few laps to go, the two front runners upped the pace battling for the lead and  he had no answer for them and finished 3rd.

Race 2 he got a decent start getting away in 3rd place behind Merton and Gibson and they had a 3 way battle for the lead but that’s the way it stayed, finishing again in 3rd.

Race 3 Michael got a good jump out of the gate but got caught behind a falling rider in the first turn which left him with a lot of work to do but made a lot of passes in the first lap and was in 5th by lap 3 behind Merton. With 3 laps to go he washed out in a corner and lost all the ground he had made up and finished the race in 5th.

Michael Mahon 3—3—-5

“I didnt have a great day today, but im happy to be still in one piece going into the last round in Clonroche in two weeks. And on the up side I was told I am mx2 reserve rider for the MX of nations so its not all bad “
