TAS RACING TO TAKE ‘A SABBATICAL’ FROM BRITISH MOTOCROSS IN 2013

Tyco Suzuki Team News

Having decided to commit all racing resources to the British Superbike paddock in 2013, Tyco Suzuki by TAS Racing has made the tough decision to announce their withdrawal from the British Motocross paddock next season.

Team owner Philip Neill has not ruled out a return to his old stomping ground in the future, but felt it was in the best interests of his team, Suzuki and his sponsors to remain fully focused on the BSB paddock for the immediate future.

Neill said: “As a former motocross racer and a fan of the sport, this was a tougher decision to make than most people will realise. When I looked at all of our racing commitments in 2013 with BSB and International Road Racing, I felt it best for everyone that we opt out of the 2013 British Motocross programme. This will allow Suzuki to replace us in the paddock, which is important for the success of the RM-Z range, and also to allow our riders, Stephen Sword, Martin Barr and Stuart Edmonds to secure new deals for 2013. We obviously wish all three riders every success and thank them for an enjoyable season. Special mention must also go to team manager Adam Lyons and our team internally at TAS Performance.”

Stephen Sword who rode MX1 for Tyco Suzuki this season wished to comment on an enjoyable year with the Moneymore based outfit by saying: “First of all I’d like to thank Philip Neill and Adam Lyons as they were true to their word from the first day we sat down and agreed a contract. Honesty is sometimes hard to come by in sport and I really thank them for that.

“A big thank you must also go to Paul my mechanic. He’s a great worker and gives nothing but one hundred percent. Also thanks to Davy, Phil, Stu and Martin – I had great fun with you all this year. Not forgetting all at Suzuki GB, Tyco and all the team sponsors for their help and commitment.”
