Gordon going well. Had good steady day yesterday no problems. Has set in with the Italians we are traveling with and running with them during the day, about the same pace. He looks tired this morning as the event enters the marathon stages, no comfort tonight either.
Earlier text from Nick.
“I am OK. No go with bike. Tried with mechanic all day. Changed everything except carb as I have not got here. Tried it, stopped it, it just pumps fuel on the ground and will only do 40k. Changed to smaller pump. Will not pump enough and stops. All day we tried. Tanks off 20 times. Pissed off now. Tired. Maybe someone trying to tell me something!”
So Nick’s bad event continues…… Yesterday the same problems as day one and two, Fuel, Or lack of it !. Started yesterday then had to return when all fuel pumped itself into the ground. Tried all day to fix and eventually stopped at 11 pm. Because he started every day and effectively finished every day by crossing the finish point he can restart today, all be it last of all those still running. 25 riders out already, It’s that hard !.
Not easy to start last as no help with navigation which is also difficult and many big dunes, Yesterday the dunes were over 150 feet tall and even Gordon struggled to cross them.
