We may all be aware that next week sees the start of the Red Bull Romaniacs event. Described as a hard enduro it falls somewhere between a Welsh 2 day, the 6 days and the Tough one. Not for the faint hearted and includes a man made prologue (ugly) and a ride through the Carpathian mountains for 4 days. Some gnarly stuff in there and navigation to overcome.

The event has previously been won by David Knight, Graham Jarvis and of course Taddy Blazusiak. For 2014 Jarvis may start as favourite again but add Jonny Walker to the above and the likely winner may be in there.

So, the Irish? Well it is unlikely we will have a winner but no doubt the four likely lads … Liam O’Brien, Davy Mc Nulty, Mick McCarthy and Eoin O’Heochaidh will acquit themselves well. They are all good riders, determined and we wish them well. Just hope Mick has not put on his new gear yet. Keep that for the cameras Mick.

Enduro .ie will endeavour to bring you updates as the event unfolds provided of course the pigeon carrier arrives.

They have of course left these green shores and we understand Mick and Davy have touched down with the 814 in Romania after a faultless drive. All is not plain sailing…. we understand Davy has arrived without any brakes on his bike…  like no discs!! .  Liam’s misses is about to drop another little Liam, bad timing that and Eoin is somewhere lost in Germany. Its 40 degrees in Romania and thunder on the way. All sounds like a good start .
