Recently the Paddies have a good record in finishing rallies. It’s so different and out of our zone it’s difficult to explain why. Determination, preparation, assistance all help but it’s down to the riders themselves.
Another 100% finish at the Merzouga is fantastic and we congratulate Fermanagh man Brian and Cork man Vincent. They deserve high praise.
Both stuck to the task and Brian in his first rallye was like a duck to water. He is as good a navigator as out there and the speed will follow. Vincent encountered more problems, out of fuel and some missed GPS bearings but stuck to the task. He should be proud of his effort and finish also a job well done.
Yes there was emotion : there always is. The Rallye thing is difficult to explain . To finish is like a gold pot.
And the rest , well our money is in the bank. Ullevaalseter won narrowly but won.Aubert was second and Philippaerts third. Laia Sanz was harshly docked for receiving fuel outside the area but rules are rules. She deserved a podium. The only rider on a kick start bike as well and a hastily cobbled together Honda. Men take note.
We leave you with the children now grown up and some more images. Fantastic Africa
Thanks to Barry and all for the company and help.
Results to follow.
