The organisers of the Rallye this week released details of the 2015 route. It will include a MX test in the dunes, crossing of the Chebbi erg from south to north with 2 GPS points only and some special navigation sections. It looks good and EDO MOSSIE the CoC is pleased ” yes, all is good, we have completed the route reconnaissance and will now set about writing the road book. There Are some technical sections, some navigational days and a special crossing of the ERG, we are very pleased “.
The entry level continues to grow with most classes now full.
Gordon, Brian, Vincent and honoury Irishman Mark ( Seward) are hard at work preparing themselves. Gordon has been to and won the UK Baja and has now decided to leave the rally kit complete on the TM. He had considered modifying the tanks to reduce the front tank bulk ( as a full rallye spec bike) as full tanks are not necessary for this rally. ” Think I will just leave alone as when I ran with only the back tanks full in Wales I hardly noticed the front. It is just a matter of fuelling the rear and leaving a small amount in the front … enough to be sure on fuel but not too much to add weight to the front . Last time I filled the front and that was a mistake .”
Vincent is undecided what bike to take but will make a decision very soon . He has been out training (!) on the mountain bike which must be a shock to the system and to everyone in Rathmore.
Brian was also at the UK Baja and finished well although he did tweak his knee. A definite class leader when it comes to navigation by road book Brian is now preparing the Husky to Rallye Lite spec ” I have All the fittings’ from last time so it is not such a problem. I have to add more water tanks to meet the new regulations but other than that it should be fine. I am practicing the Nav skills all the time.
Mark meanwhile down in Cornwall is getting worried ” I really have not a clue about this GPS stuff and headings and I am a bit concerned on that score ….. I am sure the bike bit will be OK , just worried about getting totally lost ” (Note …. that is not possible as the organisers always have the rider tracked by sentinel ) Mark now has Nick’s 450 DRZCCM and will be getting to grips with it over the next few weeks .
HEINZ KINIGARDNER ( KTM Race supremo) will be attending this years event along with a host of star riders.
Once again Enduro.ie will keep us posted as they go along.
