It has been a long wet winter and finally on Sunday the Spring weather, sun and some warmth arrived for the TORC MT Leinster H and H event , and what a good event it turned out to be . A good entry ,a good 15 minute route and good racing in all classes.
Robert Regan claimed the outright Experts win but not before a 2 hour nose to tail race with Richie Leonard and Sheamey Hayes , the latter leading from the start and holding a 2 minute advantage for the first 90 minutes when he was reeled in first by Richie and then Robert who went on to show his fitness and pull a 3 minute gap by the 3 hour finish . This was a physical loop , without and stoppers but not a lot of rest either. Well done to Robert .
Current Senior champion Paul Walsh suffered from fatigue having completed an Iron Man event the day before and simply ran out of steam.
Road racer Derek Mc Gee headed the senior class having fought off a determined challenge from Michael Tobin , the young Clonmel man keeping Derek honest right to the finish . William Thompson followed them home .
In the Clubman class John Mc Cann showed that some recent form is showing to the fore , and on a new bike pulled just enough to see off Ben Braithwaite of trials background and the other Tobin Sean in third . Not a lot between them .Alan Fennel , Mark Phelan and Keith Morgan kept the sportsman pace for the 3 hours, no mean achievement to take the class honours . Well done to all .
The club would like to thank all those who assisted , Deborah , Derek , Dave , Merv , Nick , Collie , Liam and the ambulance crew thankfully not needed .
