2m Drop Off

Ballinderry is not the only Enduro that can suffer from menaces of the weather . It would be fair to think that a world round would not be too adversely affected by the skies but not so . It also rains heavily in Portugal and day one of th e two day event had all the tests cut short by over 50% and the laps cut from 4 to 2 and a half . The going , held on gritty sandy soil interspersed with small rivers cut into long slotted ruts . It would have been ok for the top riders however running a national championship alongside the EWC proved one step too far where slower riders were blocking the difficult trail . The extreme test was that and some , extreme ….. about as extreme as it could get , steep rocky climbs followed by extreme drops and deep deep ruts . Not for the fainthearted !

…and again 15m down

It is disappointing when a world event has to be changed or cut short and we have to wonder why both the route and tests were cut.

The event direction is planning to change the route for tomorrow and we will see what that may bring .

Australian Matt Phillips( Sherco) took the honours in E3 and overall , Bollini ( Husky) E2 and Remes ( TM) E1.
