It takes more than good weather to make a good event , it helps a lot but the course needs to be well thought out , well marked , a good test and generally challenging enough but rideable . Following the storms in 2014 the lap in Whitemountain was completely unrideable but thanks to the en-devours of locals Ciaran and Noel and Coc Collie it is once again open and on Sunday it provided all the ingredients for what was an excellent event . Hard on the hands , yes , 50 m of a rock fest yes but no one has reason to complain …. the times were loosened and no one needed to burst a gut to achieve them . Despite excellent marking ( thanks Collie , Noel , Ciaran , Steven , Simon , Nick ) there were those who got lost and some even in the test which is a mystery to most .
Well attended with a host of MRA riders and even an import it will be the test times ( unlike Ballinderry) that will decide the winners ….. a flowing test which was enjoyable to ride and probably not as fast as Collie imagined . NO problems there and no accidents . Will it be Davy MC N, the elder statesman Crawford, or possibly a lesser known winner this time … possible we think. We will know soon enough.
It goes without saying again that these events do not happen without a lot of work from a small number of people in this case particularly Noel and Ciaran a giant chain saw and a quad . For those who look around as they ride you could not but notice the amount of fallen trees that were cut away , days of work so the clubs and riders thanks to them . Ciarans wife also provided the cakes … thanks Mary .
Well done to Collie and to all who made this happen …. it was worth the wait and the only complaint is from the hands !
