Not all first hand information this time as Enduro.ie roaving reporter as has left the stage but we do have our insiders in the team camp.
First and it is great news the 3 have completed day 5 and are virtually home and dry as finishers as tomorrow’s MX is a formality and as its beside the Parc Femme their may not even be a check to ride . So that is a job very well done and we do mean very well done . Paul has not ridden seriously for a few years and his body is not half together so to tackle a 6 days in that condition is feat not to be underestimated .
John has trained hard and put his soul into the yoga since he struggled in Germany and it has paid off handsomely . Simon is simply determined and has bulled his way to the end of day 5 .. He is strong in head and body .
Now then , on Thursday Paul blew his forks , lost all the oil and his brake as a consequence . We managed to persuade one of Our UK Buddies ( we just broke his arm) to donate a fork set for the day while we got Paul’s fixed to change back that evening . The problem is the loaned set were also sealless so the job had to be done twice .Paul changed them in his allocated time …. Good on the spanners but he is tired now and we know as the pace drops the harder the going becomes . Dig in there .
Simon has been flat out on the roads and tracks all week ( I have to as I am not fast enough in the forest ) , not a bad Strategy except our Simon forgets that not all roads are straight and they do have the odd corner here and there so he has Seen the ditch from the wrong side on a few occasions . Today it was a big one by all accounts flat out no arrangements made and off down a 10 foot drop . A sure no bother we just extracted the bike from the trees , kicked her here and there to straighten things out and on again flat out ! We did say mad . Sure them knee pads did their job as well .
We went up hills today we could hardly get down yesterday , how John described today , and it was supposed to be easier . Simon and myself just got together and we pushed each other on stopping every now and again to drag Simon from the ditches .
It was pink for John on Thursday changed from the bright green … It’s good really as he is easy to see rumbling into the check s . Wonder what colour his house is ?
So with 5 days down , the Mx tomorrow it has been a successful week for our guys . It’s good to see the top riders but in the end it’s our own we want to succeed and they have . Hats off to them .
Simon is adamant he will not ride the Mx tomorrow …. Shit there are jumps and more jumps with no ground In between … A fella could get hurt . Really ?
It now looks the USA will win their first ISDE … On this occasion they deserve it as their riders have been fast and steady .
