The TORC club promoted their first 2017 event, an introductory day and Hare and Hound held at Tinahely forest.
Like many events early in the season the organisers are at the mercy of the sky and what may or may not fall from it. This time it was rain and wind turning the proceedings damp although a route laid out by the club which is largely rocky held up well and was rideable if sloppy in a few places . Ok for those experienced in the job but the elements did not help those riding such a loop for the first time. A large percentage of a good entry soldiered on to the finish cut short by 30 minutes.
Initially the Widow maker Hill was part of the loop but it quickly became apparent that the Hill was going to get the better of proceedings and COC Dave MC Cann decided to reroute and leave the Widow to another day. It’s a strange hill , when you first look at it seems straightforward , easy even but ¾ the way down it goes from easy to steep over a brow when the fun starts.
Predictably Jordan Scott was a clear winner from first time Enduro runner Dylan Stynes. Merlin Silverthorne passed the senior post first from Paul Walsh ……all results to be confirmed with the rest of the classes to be finalised. The timekeepers had a very difficult job in the conditions and were certainly a lot colder than the riders.
Widow maker :
Results will be posted when finalised.
