Robert Scott was of course a British explorer who with Corkman Tom Crean set out on the ill fated Terra nova expedition to conquer the South Pole. They failed and Roald Amundsen beat them to the pole.
No such problems for Scotts namesake Jordan from Newtownards who continues to conquer this seasons Enduro championships having won all rounds and the H and H. It does not take a stopwatch to separate Jordan from the rest as his speed is visibly quicker. That is not to take away from the other Experts as the class currently has a crop of good riders , Davy MC Nulty , Barry Donaghy 2 nd on this occasion , Dan Connolly returning to form and Mervyn Griffin amongst them.
In fact every class is showing signs of improving standards with the Clubman (if we are allowed to call it that) and sportsman (ditto) particularly strong. It is great to see such standards and full classes where participants of over 100 were in White Mountain. Not since 2006 have we seen such entries. Rauri Hegarty winner of the Clubman would not have been out of sorts in the Seniors and likewise Luke Murphy in Sportsman would be well in at Clubman level.
Collie Maher along with Local lads Ciaran and John did a fantastic job of laying out the route and fortunately the day remained dry until the take down arrow gang went back out in the evening (and that made the route totally different). Two checks the first rocky and physical, the second much more flowing but with a long and technical test. Fast in places but it did cut up. Collie also had the times spot on and allowing for the beating most riders took in Ballinderry reduced the number of laps and increased the times. Sensible stuff. No one had any reason to complain. Hard to beat as an event, so well done.
Thanks again to all the workers … Collie, Ciaran , John , Compt Dave + Missus Dave , Ian , George , Jon , Nick , Hughie and Simon Cotter as sponsor + Those we forgot.
