She coughs and splutters a bit just to let me know we are at 13000 feet plus. Winding up and down the alpine valleys joined by the never ending Rock strewn hairpin bends…. its slow, technical riding. There were times I wondered if a few more CCS would help, particularly on the long Oklahoma dirt roads. Here high up in Colorado the big little 404 us in its element … power is not your friend here; she chugs along easily and pulls when asked. Perfect. Going over the edge here is not even to be considered. Lights and out spring to mind. A slow 70 miles over the 4 passes lead to more open if twisty going in the westerly direction to Utah , another complete change of scenery … gone the rugged mountains to be replaced by flatter desert like plains … hot again as we drop down winding our way towards a planned bike maintenance stop in Moab , not reached today but tomorrow . Currently stacked up on an old mining camp … wonderful and yes they have .
