On the 24th July 1847, Briton Young a Mormon ( now the Latter Day Saint church ) led a group of pioneers into the Salt Lake valley ; there they stopped and settled to become the first people in Utah. That has some significance to us as today is the 24th July, the day Mick and Simon ( now called JOHN ) were to collect the tyres sent to the post office here in Tremonton 29 miles south oh the Idaho border . That ain’t going to happen as today Utah is on holiday, Paddy’s day if you like. Nothing to do but wait another day, effectively two as it will take the morning to sort and fit the tyres…. Very slow we are, they are big bikes! Such will slow our progress a bit. It continues to be sort of a head scratcher, Wendover is in Utah a Mormon state, alcohol and other such stuff can be frowned upon, west Wendover joins on the Main Street is in Nevada, immediately a plethora of casinos and bars. Mini Vegas. One foot in one – one in the other. Just strange to me. looking back had we started in Tennessee the official start point not at the coast 1200 miles extra , possibly 6 days from here the journey In riding time would equal 24 days . That assumes of course we have no trouble from here … 🙀. The route ahead is supposed to be scenic but lots of twisty trails as we again cross a mountain and forest ranges. Still hot, a little more bearable.
Westerns brought up on westerns, JOHN Wayne always the hero….. Passed this sign on the one stretch of road We have seen for a long time ….. Like it.
