Teams Ireland ISDE 2017
Monday is start day; no doubt the guys are champing at the bit to get going.
It’s a long week before the off, final preparations to the bikes, a tweak here a twist there.
Walk the legs off yourself around the tests… this year in typical French fashion … flowing and grassy.
Then there is prelim
Bike check, marking and noise. All 12 are through although Mick O’Leary had a small issue with the noise. His team mate Ivan blew a shock in practice during the week got it repaired just in time to make the prelim deadline. Did not need that.
It’s very warm in Brive, mid 30 which will add another dimension.
For us white skinned Irish, not used to riding in that heat and it does work the body more.
All the boys are fit, most are young and well able to ride so as previously we hope and should see good results.

Accommodation can be an issue at any ISDE, Phil Caldwell and co are somewhere out in the sticks, John Mc Cann and crew are ideally positioned near the start and Mick O’Leary is parked up in his new camper. It may seem a small thing but having to travel a distance every morning at different start times adds a negative point to every day.
The good thing is the British support crew, amongst the best they are looking after our teams. That is important and takes away one element of organisation. Sure it costs measured against trying to arrange it themselves it’s cheap and bulletproof.
Day one and two may contain a difficult check according to rumour. Time will tell. Either way it’s unlikely to cause a problem to our riders. They are all well used to rocks and roots. Pace may be the thing.
