In France they say every second house has an off-road bike in the garage …. well Wexford must be the same. They came in their hundreds to the Wexford hare and hound at forth mountain last Sunday. This annual season-opening charity event ( in aid of Pieta house) was brilliantly run by the club volunteers.
A lap if some 25 km plus, forest, lanes, and road closure to make a route of some 25 min for the fastest riders, perhaps 2 hours for the beginners! Not all easy but all rideable given the heavy rain on Saturday night. The quads running early opened the route for the solos later in the day. The road racers loved it with Derek Shields setting the lap times from the senior class…
Good weather added to the event on the day.
It has been a very long time if ever that 200 plus riders attended an H & H event on this island. It was great to see.
Congratulations to the club … you can stand proud.
