Sunshine all the way at TORC H & H

Lot Steeper than it looks

Mt. Leinster set in the beautiful plains of Carlow/ Wexford can be an unforgiving place when the wind blows and the rain comes. The opposite is also true with Sundays opening TORC Hare and Hound run in glorious spring sunshine for the big participant entry. Liam Kelly and crew temporarily moved from their traditional Kilavullen  venue to lay out a 11 km lap on the original check 2 side of the forest, taking in fire roads , tracks and some knarly forest runs  making life a bit more difficult than a Sunday stroll. Using the head and eyes would be of benefit to stay upright . There were up and down stories for many riders most sticking to the task to complete the 3 hours. Thanks to Mark Mc E for pulling many bodies through the worst bits.

When the Wind blows

Danny Connolly took the overall , Ian Kelly the Senior , Tom Nixon the Clubman and Lukasz Szulc the Sportsman the latter representing a big and welcome non national participation . All results on TORC web site, speedy so well done.

Interestingly many riders ran out of fuel which is strange given a lap of 20/ 30 minutes …. Either they were on a winning streak and rushed on or were too tired to fuel !

So the season is underway , lots of new riders which is most welcome with  a programme of Enduro and Longcross events for them .

All clubs would stress the importance of Pre entry details …. This minimises the on the day delay, form filling and more importantly an accurate record for the MCUI / Sports council to which all affiliated clubs need to report every detail. Depending on land facilities and conditions  in some cases it may be necessary to curtail the entry levels taking pre entry first.

Great event to start.
