TMC Honda’s John Meara caps off a stunning season as he’s crowned the 2012 Retink Irish MX2 Champion…
Wexford Off Road Club played host to the last round of the Retink Racing Adult Irish Championship on Sunday last on their newly revamped track in Clonroche.
TMC moto x’s John Meara was trying to put the last little bit of icing on the cake for to add the Irish mx2 championship win to the Ulster mx2 championship he had had bagged earlier on in the season.
Qualifying wasn’t one of his best as he was struggling to get to grips with the slippy new track layout. He got himself 11th spot which was exactly where he wanted to be.
Race 1. John got a very bad start and was still struggling to get his rhythm and it was about mid race before he got the hang of the track and passed a few riders to take 4th place.
Race 2. Another bad start saw him trying to get his way through the field and it wasn’t really going according to plan and he got 3rd.
Race 3. John was hoping to get at least one good start in the day and it came at last. About 10th around the 1st corner was enough to kick start his prospects of a race win. This was the 1st race that he had settled in and felt comfortable on the bike and made some good passes too take the race win. It was nice to finish the season with a win.
John Meara 4—3—1
“I want to say a huge thanks to everyone who helped me out throughout the 2012 season and I am glad I can repay them with the Ulster and Irish mx2 championships.
