6 days day 2

Opening ceremony @ ISDE 2016

It was forecast and it came exactly on time .. 1600 hrs the heavens opened and turned the dusty trails into ice rinks . Hard on our guys as they started late so were caught out in the worst of the day where many were home and dry . Paul was in wet but before the worst of the weather whilst Simon and Paul pushed on in very trying conditions . Both changed front and rear tyres tonight , quite a feat in itself in almost darkness and rain . With almost 600 riders it is inevitable that some will have a late start some 3 hours behind the top trophy riders and will by consequence arrive late .

Simon on tyre duty

Simon has pulled his shoulder out , partly as a result of landing in the ditch frequented by Paul yesterday and partly by giving the backward fingers to John who by his own admission was riding up Simon’s h….e .
Paul has had a good run today and has Settled in well , no crashed today and stands inside silver standard . He is in stealth mode according to himself and will unleash the guns on Friday . Can’t wait for that .

Paul at end

Simon has a full car sanding ,drill in his box which he uses as a massage machine … Seen it all now ! Must work as his recovery rate is good and he is champing on the bit for tomorrow , a day which is shorter but will be harder when the event moves further south towards Forest hills and perhaps off the fast lanes of day one and two . It has been fast in parts and some federations are unhappy with the speed of the tests and going . They may have a point as it is fast in places .

If it continues to rain it will tighten the going considerably , if the rain stops it will dampen the dust and stop the long downhills scheduled for tomorrow becoming very slippery . It will be more difficult either way .

The Americans continue to impress.
