KTM Battle on at EWC GP of Romania

KTM factory rider Kurt Caselli, currently standing in for the injured KTM Enduro Factory rider David Knight flew in from the USA to race in the E2 class when the WEC Enduro World Championship went to Romania for the first time this weekend. Caselli had a solid result on Saturday and after leading for most of the day made some mistakes in the last of four laps and had to settle for third place behind Christophe Nambotin and Sebastien Guillaume. On Sunday he was not so fortunate and never really recovered from some errors in the first test, however he was still able to salvage a fourth place in Round 12. The American has nevertheless garnered a creditable 78 championship points from the Greek and the Romanian GPs.

Eero Remes "The Pint Sized" Finn

Eero Remes came away from Rounds 11-12 of the Enduro World Championship in Busau Romania this weekend with a 3-2 result and moved up to second place in the championship standings. The Finn was the only KTM factory rider in the class as teammate Thomas Oldrati is currently out through illness. On Saturday Remes fought with the leaders and just narrowly missed a second place on the podium and on Sunday. Team boss Fabio Farioli reported from Busau that Remes also fought hard all day Sunday with the championship leader Juha Salminen for a creditable performance overall.

Cristobal Guerrero E2 - 2nd, 3rd

Spanish KTM factory rider Cristobal Guerrero put in two solid rides in the E2 class of the Enduro World Championship in Busau Romania this weekend to finish with a 2-3 result in Rounds 11 and 12 of the competition. In the absence of the injured Johnny Aubert, Guerrero was the sole rider for the KTM factory team this weekend and retains his second place in the standings behind Antoine Meo of France. “Guerrero was very fast this weekend and he had some close fights with Meo,” team boss Fabio Farioli reported.

Mario Roman of Spain was the most outstanding KTM rider in the junior EJ class with a 4-2 result for the weekend’s ride in the championship’s first outing to Romania. The Youth Cup also ended positively for KTM with a 1-3 result for leader Jonathan Manzi of Italy and for 16-year-old KTM supported rider Benjamin Herrera of Chile. The teenager was third on Saturday and won the Youth Cup on Sunday.

Rider’s battled searing temperatures throughout the 4-lap circuit but had the novelty of having the paddock facility in the town center of Busau, ensuring there was a lot of local interest in the event. Riders were not only tested on the 4 x 52 km laps and integrated cross, extreme and Enduro tests on both Saturday and Sunday during their first World Championship outing in Romania but also battled extreme summer temperatures. The competition now goes into recess until September.

The competition now breaks until September when riders will contest the next GP in Andorra.
