Stuart Edmonds and TM UK wrap up the final round of the 2011 ACU British 2-Stroke Championship with a commanding win and the championship crown
Stuart Edmonds went into the last round of this year’s ACU British 2-Stroke championship at Milton Mowser with a 23-point advantage over his nearest rival. With a hat-trick of dominating wins on his TM Racing 250cc machine, Stuart stamped his authority on the championship and took the 2011 title much to the delight of both himself and the TM UK team.
With the series being contested by a number of the TM UK team it was yet again again a busy day and just to add a little more work to the schedule ‘Chubbie’ Hammond was also ‘guest’ riding after confirming the loan of a 125cc TM Racing machine on Saturday afternoon. With the 125cc machines and 250cc machines going head to head in the same race the TM UK team was running a three man squad consisting of Stuart, Ryan Pottenger and Chubbie; long time TM campaigner and 2-stroke ace, Jim Davies, was not in attendance as he is still recovering from injury, a big blow to Jim and the TM UK Team.
With three races on the schedule and after a very ‘heavy’ qualifying session it was down to work. Stuart convincingly took the win in all three moto’s leading from start to finish, he also took the overall honours for the day in the 250cc class and with it the championship crown. Ryan Pottenger took a trio of 4th place finishes to end the day with 3rd overall. Points are still being calculated but we believe Ryan to have finished 4th in the championship standings. Chubbie Hammond rode well on an unfamiliar machine to take a trio of third place finishes, however a miscommunication saw Chubbie being allocated to the wrong class and even though competing on 125cc machine he ended up in the 250cc results. Chubbie would have taken the last step of the podium for 3rd overall on the day in the 125cc class. Despite his absence from this round Jim Davies had accumulated enough points in the 4 previous rounds to see him take third overall in the Championship standings.
