TMC Honda’s John Meara fights through the pain of a recently dislocated shoulder to win MX2 at roud five of the Retink Adult Irish Motocross Championship in Seaforde, July 14…
Team TMC MOTX surprisingly had 2 riders competing in round 5 of the Retink Racing Adult Irish Championship in Seaforde motocross park last Saturday. Surprisingly, because only 3 weeks ago TMC’s premier mx2 rider, John Meara dislocated his shoulder competing in the British Championship in Desertmartin.
Also competing was Christy Harnett in premier mx1.
Practice went ok for the lads but John didn’t want to push too hard till he worked out how his shoulder was going to perform so he really only did one fast lap. He managed 20th and was happy enough with that result considering his injury.
John headed out in race 1 full of confidence and it was to be followed up, well rewarded as he got away 2nd in mx 2 and made quick work of taking the lead and never looked back as he was 1st by the chequered flag.
A bad start in race 2 left him a lot of ground to make up but with a combination of things, working so hard and putting extra stress on his shoulder, and trying so hard to get past the mx 1 riders he tired more than usual and had to settle for 5th.
In race 3 he got another good start, battled hard with a few riders to take an early lead where he was to stay to take another win..

“It was a good day for me overall as I wasn’t even expecting to ride after dislocating my shoulder only 3 weeks ago but I put up 3 pretty strong performances and got a good points haul for the championship”
Christy had a very tough day with a combination of falls, minor bike trouble and bad luck.
Race 1 got tangled up in other riders and had a lot of work to do to get back to 14th.
Race 2 A bad start and a fall netted him 12th and in race 3 he got away well but got a little trouble with the bike and managed a 10th.

“It was a bad day from the start, I never felt comfortable on the bike and the results showed that. 14th, 12th and 10th is far from what I expected”
