Despite 4 previously cancelled dates, it was possibly worth the wait as Doon was in prime condition …. Dry to foot but with enough give in the ground to give good grip and some superb racing over the 2 x1.15 hr races , reversed in direction after race 1 a format initiated by the Fastlane MCC club.
In the experts , Darrell Maguire ( TM) was to finish with a 2 1 score to head the day but only after a race long dual with Ian Kelly(yam) in race 2 and a win for Kelly in race 1 . Robert Regan was finish 3 rd overall with a 4.2 score following a race 1 crash . Robert however did enough to take the overall series win following a very steady and consistent run of finishes. Well done to Robert.
Richard Murphy (KTM) took 2 overall in the series followed by Niall Stapleton (KTM) and Ian Kelly .
Local rider Greg lynch ( RM) who took the B championship overall was to be beaten on Sunday by 2 leg winner Ciaran Hayes (yam) showing a consistent turn of speed on the day. Paul Walsh (KTM) filled the second podium place with Keith Tiernan ™ slotting into third. In the event, only Lynch was to figure in the overall series with Damien Kelly (hon) taking second and a very consistent matt Davy (KTM) in third.
Frenchman Gregory betrant (yz) simply blitzed the grade C class with lap times fast enough to be 4 the overall . Michael Tobin (KTM) also showed good speed and skill to finish behind Bertrant but headed the series and deservedly so.Paul Rowan (KTM) finished third in the day but second overall . Liam Dunne (HVA) took third in the series .
Oliver Davy (KTM) won both the day and championship .
So ends a series that started in winter but finishes in spring.
