Always be prepared for an Enduro

What’s in a name

Back in time many Irish Enduros had names:” The Branch Dodgers ”,” Three River Run ”, etc… all with self explanatory meanings. The ACU have followed suit with last Sunday’s BEC event aptly named ”The Brass Monkey” Enduro. By all accounts it was cold, wet with every vehicle towed in and out of the paddock field… Not ideal for such an event with some riders missing their start time stuck in the ”tow in” queue.

Tow in Queue

Again far from ideal but with land, location and clubs to host such events becoming more and more difficult complaining will solve little. Like the recent BEC Round 1 in Dorset the lap has become shorter replaced by multiple long tests; in excess of 10 minutes each ridden 11 times with short ” liaison ”runs between each test. These were good tests. More EWC than BEC. Long varied tests make for good competition.

Plenty of advise for Luke

Luke Murphy and family made another long trip to the of south England to fly the green flag for St. Pats day having a good steady run if more challenging than Round 1 ( results not posted yet) dad Brian beat the tow in landing himself and trailer next to the pits. Job well done !

Top Job Brian !

Congratulations to Luke Murphy on a hard earned and great 2nd in class Top 10 overall.

Being the local track to World and E 3 champion Steve Holmcolm (Beta), Alex Snow (GG) wild card and 3 times Weston winner Kellett( KTM) likely to take the pace to round one victor Danny Mc Canney Isle of Man (TM) with the favourite tag squarely on Holmcolm. As it happened both Holmcolm and Mc Canney traded times way faster than anyone else before some mechanical gremlin caused Holmcome to retire. An easy if impressive cruise for Mc Canney to the win (subject to results), Alex Snow  some way adrift in runner up spot.

All these riders travel to Germany for the opening EWC world round next weekend, joined we at Enduro.ie hear by one David Knight aboard one of Mc Canney’s TM 300 to contest the vets championship along with Jonny Oubert and Co. Interesting.

The local Irish season will start next weekend with the TORC  Hare and Hound at Mt. Leinster … and  Fastlane MCC – Long Cross on the 7th April, TORC Enduro 14/04.
Best to all riders.
